"Environmental activism: in your neighbourhood, in your world"

Nancy Hillier was a tireless campaigner on behalf of people and places in the Botany Bay area of Sydney. This annual lecture series acknowledges Nancy’s legacy by providing a forum to discuss social and environmental issues that resonate with and extend her work. In 2018 the event will feature two presenters.

The Keynote speaker is Gem Romuld, Australian Director for the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons. This Australian born organisation won the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize for its work on a nuclear weapons ban treaty. Gem will explore how young activists have spearheaded this campaign.

The second speaker is Eastlakes resident Tim Clifford, who won the Lionel Bowen Award in 2016. Now a film student and activist, Tim will screen his short documentary on urban development in the Botany Bay area, with his commentary on contemporary local issues.
