The 2023 Cancer Symposium will connect cancer researchers across the UNSW network, facilitate new collaborations, and generate new ideas across our campuses and institutes. Our Opening Keynote will be given by Prof. David Thomas, the inaugural director of the new Centre for Molecular Oncology.

Sessions 1-4 will include a series of short presentations from prominent UNSW researchers followed by a facilitated discussion with Q&A. In Session 5, we will hear from Prof. Tracey O'Brien, CINSW CEO and NSW Chief Cancer Officer, and Prof. Ben Kile, Executive Director of the Garvan Institute, on the future of cancer research, followed by a panel discussion.

  • Session 2: Therapeutic Innovations in Cancer Treatment
  • Session 3: Survivorship & Symptom Management
  • Session 4: EMCR Spotlight
  • Session 5: What is the Future of Cancer Research?

Each Session will be chaired by a researcher and consumer to share their unique perspectives on the talks. The Symposium will be followed by drinks and light nibbles.

EMCRs or PhD Candidates interested in presenting a poster at the symposium should complete this EOI form here. A prize of $250 will be awarded to the best poster in each career-level category.
