Grumble Boogie

17 March 2025
1.00pm – 1.30pm AEDT
Alumni Lawn Stairs, Esme Timbery Creative Practice Lab (D8)
This event has ended

A surreal aerobics class—a communal celebration, ritual of rage and rite of renewal led by performance critter Betty Grumble. Grumble invites you into the mantric wish of ‘Thank You Body’ as hearts pump and the serotonin builds and together we forge a hopeful path to recovery and repair through movement and humour.

Bring water, a towel and wear threads that you can move and feel magical in.

Grumble Boogie will take place on the steps above the Esme Timbery Creative Practices Lab. In the event of wet weather, we will move into the Io Myers theatre inside the Esme Timbery CPL.

Grumble Boogie is open to your access needs. Please reach out for any questions regarding our flow and your access requirements.

For event enquiries or to discuss your access requirements, please email h.gillies@unsw.edu.au.

Emma Maye Gibson AKA Betty Grumble is a recipient of the 2025 SAM Alumni Creative Residency. This event is part of her residency, wehre she is developing BEAST: a “psychedelic” fusion of “ritual theatre, storytelling, song, dance and stand-up comedy” that investigates themes of healing and embodiment.

This event is presented by the School of Arts & Media. With assistance from the Esme Timbery Creative Practice Lab.
