Join us for the opening of Interwoven, an exhibition that invites visitors on a reflective journey through the interconnections of loss, grief, resilience and the search for renewal in our fragile times.

Interwoven showcases a collection of student work from a new course in the Master of Environmental Management, Remaking Worlds: Critical & Creative Paradigm Shifts in Environment & Society. Featuring works on paper, narrative fiction, installation, video and audio projects, the exhibition weaves together individual and collective responses to the fractures and transformations of a changing planet.

These creative explorations trace cyclical, seasonal and transformative relationships across place, space, and the more-than-human world.

The exhibition will be officially opened by esteemed artist Deborah Kelly, whose epic interdisciplinary project CREATION has been an inspiration for students.

Opening night: 1 May, 4pm–7pm
Enjoy live performance and catering in The Gallery at The Anita B. Lawrence Centre (West wing) UNSW Kensington campus.

Deborah Kelly (MFA, UNSW) makes multi-disciplinary, exuberant artworks enlivened through workshops, events and performances. In 2021 her long-term multi-artform collaborative secular queer religion project CREATION had its exhibition debut in The National (2021) at the MCA, after appearing at Carriageworks (2020) as a collectively-devised dance performance with Angela Goh and the children of Seet Dance. The CREATION choir’s premiere performance was at the Sydney Opera House in 2022. CREATION continues to manifest through visual art, concerts, food and ritual, most recently at the Art Gallery of NSW as a series of elaborately-costumed participatory choral performances in October 2024. In 2025 the project will be animated as open workshops in the UTS Library, in Newcastle and in Coffs Harbour. ABC TV will air an episode of Compass exploring the world of CREATION on 11 May 2025.
