Shirley Hazzard’s authorised biographer, Professor Brigitta Olubas, will be in conversation with two-time Miles Franklin award winner Michelle de Kretser and Professor Robert Pogue Harrison about the enduring significance of Hazzard’s work.

Harrison, a scholar of Italian and French literature, was Shirley’s friend and saw her often in the last years she visited Italy. He will speak about her character and sensibility, and her love and immense knowledge of poetry.

Novelist De Kretser is an unabashed admirer of Hazzard’s writing and will speak further about reading her work in Australia.

The literary curator at Columbia University Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Melina Moe, will also speak about the archive holdings of Shirley Hazzard’s papers.

There will be time for a Q&A with the audience.
