Take your ears, put them in a scuba suit, and throw them in the deep end. Beneath the waves there’s a whole world waiting for you. Immerse yourself in New Atlantis, a festival of new and experimental sound.

Artists from UNSW and the sonic arts community are taking over the Esme Timbery Creative Practice Lab with 8-channel soundscapes, AI artworks, modular synth performances, sonic sculptures, VR-driven music, and more. Guest artists include DJ composer Deepchild, genre-defying Icevena (aka UNSW alumna Gemma Lipman), sound designer and composer Panos Couros, and a full program of works curated by Vitalise Sydney.

Alongside all this, the festival features new works from UNSW students. Inspired by randomly chosen classical CDs, Sound Lab (Live) in the School of the Arts & Media presents new compositions blending theremin and prepared piano with modular synths, looping pedals and laptop CPU pushed to the limit. Students from Art & Design will transform the Studio One foyer with an AI sonic artwork.

All are welcome!
