Race to Net Zero Carbon Buildings 2030

Scientia Professor Deo Prasad AO FTSE | UNSW ADA School of Built Environment

The latest IPCC Reports have pointed an urgent need to respond to the climate emergency and actions towards net zero carbon by 2030. The built environment plays a significant role in this emergency for both levels of carbon emissions and opportunities for innovations. These include advanced, researched knowledge, emerging technologies and practical applications enabling the race to a net zero carbon built environment.

In this webinar, the second in the High Performance Architecture Research Cluster’s 2022 series, Scientia Professor Deo AO will present the newly released “Race to Net Zero Carbon – A Climate Emergency Guide for New and Existing Buildings in Australia” as well as other selected projects in this field.

Scientia Professor Deo Prasad AO FTSE

Scientia Professor Deo Prasad AO FTSE has long-standing expertise in decarbonisation and sustainability. He led two key centres in this area – SOLARCH Group and then the CRC for Low Carbon Living as the CEO. The CRC for Low Carbon Living has been the largest investment in built environment focussed research in Australia. Following this, he co-led the bid for the National Environmental Science Program’s ‘Sustainable Communities and Waste Hub’ now established at UNSW. This year he has co-led two successful bids – the NSW Decarbonisation Innovation Hub (~$30m) and the Australian Trailblazer for Recycling and Clean Energy (ATRaCE) (~$230m) – with both delivering massive decarbonisation while creating economic and capacity build outcomes.
