Where a written instrument fails accurately to reflect the true agreement between the parties, the equitable remedy of rectification may be sought. Equity has the power to rectify or reform the instrument so that it accords with the parties’ true agreement. There is no general jurisdiction in equity to rectify a will. However, in most jurisdictions legislation now provides for rectification of wills.

This one-day conference brings together expert judges and legal scholars to consider the scope and limits of this important commercial remedy. It will be held in-person at the UNSW CBD Campus (1 O'Connell Street, Sydney).

The conference will be of particular interest to judges, barristers, solicitors and in-house counsel in commercial dispute resolution, equity and trusts, building and construction, infrastructure, property, wills, probate and succession law.
