Social Sciences at UNSW Open Day
Saturday 7 September
10.00am – 1.20pm

Considering undergraduate study in the area of social sciences but not sure what to choose? UNSW School of Social Sciences will be hosting a series of short presentations at UNSW Open Day on Saturday 7 September covering the broad range of study options available in this area.

Commencing at 10am, hear from our expert teaching staff as they discuss what you’ll study across our various subject areas including Criminology & Criminal Justice, Poltics & International Relations, Social Policy & Research, Social Work, Sociology & Anthropology and Development Studies.

“Thrown to the lions” How to survive the cyber marketplace of ideas.

Social media is the new arena where ideas and individuals live or die at the will of the mob. 

As a celebrity, Magda Szubanski has often found herself at the centre of these lawless, sometimes bruising interactions. But it was as an advocate for marriage equality that she encountered the real nature of the internet, red in tooth and claw. So, how do we drain the poison that has entered the lifeblood of society?

UNSW Library has curated a featured collection of resources showing the diversity of topics within the social sciences including social work, anthropology, criminology, politics, international relations and sociology. The collection includes interviews with Magda Szubanski, award-winning actor, author, activist and key speaker at Social Sciences Week@UNSW.
