Wear It Purple Day: Celebrating LGBTIQA+ Young People
You're invited to celebrate Wear It Purple Day and show your support for LGBTIQA+ young people.
Come grab a cupcake, wear something purple, and show your support for LGBTIQA+ young people.
Wear It Purple Day celebrates the right of every young person to be proud of who they are and who they are becoming. It began as a response to young people taking their lives after experiencing bullying and discrimination. Today, it's a global movement of visibility, pride, and support for LGBTIQA+ youth.
Event details:
- When: Thursday 28 August, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
- Where: Ground Floor, Wallace Wurth Building
- What to wear: Anything purple 💜
- What’s on offer: Cupcakes, merch, and a chance to stand in solidarity with LGBTIQA+ youth.
- Bonus: We’ve got stickers for anyone who gets creative with their purple gear.
Volunteers from the UNSW Medicine & Health LGBTIQA+ Network Committee will be there to talk about the day and this year’s theme: Bold Voices, Bright Futures.
This is one of several events the Network runs throughout the year to foster inclusion and visibility. If you're interested in learning more, come say hello.
