2026 Emerging Scholars Network Annual Workshop
The 2026 Emerging Scholars Network Annual Workshop is co-hosted by UNSW's Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law, Forced Migration Research Network, and Refugee Trauma and Recovery Program, supported by the UNSW School of Humanities and Languages, the UNSW School of Social Sciences, the UNSW School of Psychology, and the UNSW Faculty of Law & Justice.
This all-day hybrid workshop will be held on Tuesday 20 October, 9am to 5pm AEDT in Sydney, Australia. Registrations open 8:45am.
This full-day, hybrid workshop will feature emerging scholars showcasing new and original research. It is an opportunity to hear about work in progress and connect with a diverse range of researchers from around the world working in the field of refugee and forced migration studies.
The workshop will be run in person at the UNSW Faculty of Law & Justice in Sydney and online. For participants who are unable to travel to the workshop, please select virtual attendance. There is a contribution toward catering costs for in-person attendance; if this cost is a barrier for your participation, please reach out to us at kaldorcentre@unsw.edu.au.
Participants are also invited to attend two additional events taking place alongside the Emerging Scholars Network (ESN) Annual Workshop:
-
Monday 19 October, 2.30pm to 5pm, join us for a hybrid skills workshop: Making an Impact: Turning Your Research into Evidence-Based Policy Change;
-
Tuesday 20 October at 6.30pm, we invite you to the Kaldor Centre Oration (click to register separately). Mariam Veiszadeh reflects on her journey from fleeing Afghanistan as a young girl, to building a life in Australia as a lawyer, advocate and human rights champion, and shares her views on reframing the debate on belonging. Attendance is free but separate registration is essential for this in-person event.
