From Antarctica to the Arctic, polar seas play a vital role in shaping our planet, regulating climate, storing carbon, driving ocean currents and supporting extraordinary ecosystems.
But these frozen oceans are changing. Sea ice is disappearing and waters are warming, raising important questions about what happens when one of Earth’s great climate regulators begins to shift.
Join us for a special screening of Ages of Ice, the new ABC documentary series, followed by a panel discussion with film director Karina Holden and leading UNSW oceanographers and thinkers. Together, we’ll explore the remarkable science of the polar seas, the researchers working to understand them and what their changing rhythms can tell us about our planet’s future.
