Homelessness Talks & Movie Screening 'Some Happy Day'

Some Happy Day

Housing Law at UNSW Law & Justice has been taught every year for ten years now, and, to mark the occasion, this event aims to increase awareness of the issues surrounding homelessness, and the supports available, particularly for UNSW students experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.

The event will run from 11:30am-5pm, in person at UNSW. You are welcome to attend some or all of the events during the day.

  • From 11:30-12:30 we will have a guest presentation on trauma-informed practice. Speaker: Catherine Hill, Location: Classroom G07 Science and Engineering Building E8

  • From 12:30-1 we will have a BYO picnic on the lawn. Location: Alumni Lawn

  • From 1-2 we will have a panel discussing supports for UNSW students experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Speaker: Sophie Kearns, UNSW Student Support, and Emma Golledge, Kingsford Legal Centre, Location: Classroom G07 Science and Engineering Building E8

  • From 2-4 we will screen a recent movie on Homelessness, 'Some Happy Day,' https://www.somehappydayfilm.com/, followed by a Q&A. Speaker: Catherine Hill, Location: Theatre G04 Law Building F8

  • From 4-5, we will have a panel discussing the work of UNSW researchers into homelessness. Speakers: Hal Pawson, kylie valentine, Anne O'Brien, Mailin Suchting, Location: Theatre G04 Law Building F8

  • From 5-6pm, attendees are invited to continue their discussions at the Roundhouse. Location: UNSW Roundhouse E6

Attendees will be encouraged to make an online donation to a Homelessness charity.
