Inequality in later life: The impact on health and wellbeing

Inequalities in later life, and their consequences for health and wellbeing, have been underplayed by researchers and policy makers, to the detriment of individuals and wider society. But what drives these inequalities? Class, ethnicity and gender; early life experiences; or events in later life?

James Nazroo will investigate the importance of later life events in shaping inequality and argue that research and policy need to bring these into sharper focus.

Grand Challenge Meetup: 'Yuwaya Ngarra-li’ partnership, Walgett

Join us for this Grand Challenge meetup, with speaker Dr Ruth McCausland.

Aboriginal people with mental and cognitive disability are over-represented in the criminal justice system. A study to investigate the factors contributing to this, has led to UNSW researchers being invited to work with the Dharriwaa Elders Group in Walgett. This talk outlines the ‘Yuwaya Ngarra-li’ partnership to find solutions to the discrimination and disadvantage facing this community.
