The Colloquium, co-hosted by CEPAR and the School of Risk & Actuarial Studies, is a unique annual event, bringing together academics, government and industry to discuss the latest research on pensions and retirement. 

The theme for 2018 is Pensions, Retirement and Inequality. Several Colloquium activities will contribute to the UNSW Grand Challenge on Inequality, including a Keynote Lecture by world renowned pension expert Professor Olivia Mitchell.

Our second public lecture responding to the Gonski 2.0 report will bring together research and industry experts to discuss the report's recommendations around leadership, particularly how we provide school leaders with high quality professional learning. Chaired by Adrian Piccoli, UNSW researchers Dr Scott Eacott and Dr Richard Niesche will join school leaders with experience in the government and non-government sector.

A talk by Dr Soheil Ashrafi, from Raffles College. Dr Ashrafi argues that design is morally obliged to partake in social justice discourse and social justice is ontologically bound up with design. Considering design as a mode of being rooted in the ontological essence of human, it can be characterised as forming an integral part of social justice theory.

Scientia Professor David Cooper AO, Director of the Kirby Institute at UNSW Sydney, was a leading HIV and infectious disease researcher and clinician who passed away on 18 March 2018.

The Kirby Institute, UNSW Sydney, St Vincent’s Hospital and community partners join the Cooper family in hosting a public memorial service to honour the life and work of David Cooper.

In the first program of 2018, the Collegium Musicum Choir will be tackling some great masterpieces of the choral repertory, with a focus on the war-torn works of Haydn and Jenkins. So often throughout history the heartfelt cry of the masses is overshadowed by the conflict of rival nations. This program pays homage to the victims of war both past and present.

Sonic explorers dig up machines and media from the past and situate them in range of genres (from experimental and ambient to synthwave and future bass). We’ve raided the music department's vinyl stash and sampled every out-of-tune harpsichord and pump organ we could find. Resurrected machines include a living Gameboy, Alpha Juno, modular synth, Fairlight CMI, and prepared piano, all played lived live with reactive visuals.
